Madison Would Be In Top 100 With Home Security Systems
In 2006 the city of Madison, Wisconsin was voted #53 on CNN Money’s Top 100 Best Places to live. At the time the family median income and purchasing power was slightly lower than the national average and yet personal and property crime incidents were a little higher than the national average. It’s obvious from some of the crime news reports from the city that these statistics are supported by real life incidents. Even apartment dwellers need to consider home security systems to protect against intruders.
Early in March 2009 in an apartment complex on Trillium Court police reported that two men forced their way into a private apartment home and took two young teenagers by surprise demanding drugs and money. Shortly after, a friend of the teens arrived on the scene and caught the burglars in the act. The young man was attacked but thankfully only suffered minor injuries.
The thieves then fled the home on foot taking stolen cash with them. The police caught one suspect but have yet to catch the other, described as wearing a surgical mask and a hard hat. The authorities speculated that the men likely had entered the apartment in error believing it to be the residence of someone else.
Home security systems available for apartment homes in affordable packages. These systems are mobile and can be taken with a family when they move to a new residence. In a city where the crime rate is higher than the national average, installing security technology is one way to take charge of
your personal safety and the safety of your family.
It also stands to reason that owners of apartment buildings and condominium complexes would install surveillance cameras and monitoring systems even in lower end rental units to help protect their residents and reduce the incidence of burglary and vandalism. The costs of the crimes ends up be far more than the cost of a security system and discourages the criminal element from frequenting those buildings.
