Asbestos was used in building homes during the 1930s until the 1970s when it was found out to be causing many diseases. Most people would want asbestos to be removed in their homes immediately they suspect that they might have been used in building it. Removing asbestos is not something to be done by anyone because the act of removing them can lead the fibers to become air born therefore exposing you and your family at risk so this should be left to professionals alone?
If you suspect that asbestos have been used to build your house, you should first of all let a professional to inspect your shingles and if they are I good condition, the best thing to do is to leave them as the fibers will not be released and thus will not be a health risk. If the shingles are in bad condition, you will be left with two options: either repair them or remove them.
